Abiding in the PsalmsSample

He is worthy Have you ever been in love? It feels like the other person is all that you can think about. You feel happy and giddy and even a bit silly because you can’t stop thinking about them. Or maybe you’ve seen a friend in love? When your friend gets a new boyfriend/girlfriend, it seems like they are all they can now talk about, and you even forget what you talked about before they met this person. This is how we should relate to God. Not that God should be our boyfriend or girlfriend, but we should be enamoured by God, in awe of Him; He should be on our mind. Maybe you have felt that with God before – maybe during an after-camp high or another really good time. Why do you think it is not this way all the time? Or maybe you haven’t felt that intimacy with God before. You should know that it is available for everyone! Matthew 7:7 says “Ask and It will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”. When you seek Jesus, seek to know Him, to know His love, to be in His presence. God will give that to you abundantly! Even in times when you are finding it hard to have intimacy with God, read this psalm over and over until it rings true for you. We want to be so filled with the love of Jesus that we can’t help but “Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.” Evangelism wouldn’t be something we struggle with anymore, because we just wouldn’t be able to stop talking about our beautiful, faithful, and loving Jesus. Questions Do you think you are truly seeking God? Why/Why not? What does intimacy mean to you? How can you get intimacy with God? What can you do this week to spend more time seeking Jesus? Pray God, I get more excited by my friends’ new romantic interests, by the likes I get on Instagram, by the new pair of shoes that have just been launched, than by spending time getting to know you. Flip my priorities so that I can give you the honour you deserve. Amen.
