Abiding in the Psalms

DAY 48 OF 63

Jesus prayed for you Jesus knew as He prayed this prayer that He was about to be arrested, tortured and then crucified on a cross. Yet, He took a moment to pray for YOU. Yes, to pray for YOU. “I pray for those who will believe in me through their message..." Jesus here is praying for everyone who will believe in Him through the message that His disciples would take to the ends of the earth. That is how you and I know about Jesus, because the disciples went to Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). Let that sink in, that Jesus prayed for you. Jesus died for you. He bore YOUR sins. He knows each one of us intimately. He prayed for you. Verse 26 says “I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them”. I find this passage hard to take in, as I marvel at the fact that Jesus prayed that His purpose on this earth was to make His Father known so that we may have the benefit of living with Christ in us. Questions How does this passage, which says that Jesus prayed for you, make you feel? Does it change the way you relate to Jesus? What does this mean for your life? Pray Jesus, thank you for thinking of me. Thank you for praying for me. Thank you for saving me. Let that sink in as a part of my every day, so much so that I can’t contain the joy that it makes me feel and that becomes evident to everyone around me. Thank you for loving me and for choosing me. Help me to love you more and more each day. Amen.
