Abiding in the Psalms

DAY 24 OF 63

Praise Him! Today let’s follow Psalm 33 in praising God. This psalm says that “praise from the upright is beautiful”. Your praise brings God delight (Zephaniah 3:17 says he will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing). Sing to God a new song. God gives you new things to delight in, new revelations and understandings of Him. God gives us a new reason to sing praises every day. Praise God because what He says is right and true. This means when what God says is confusing, when it doesn’t make sense, or even when you don’t like it, you can still trust that it’s true and because it’s from God, it is good! Praise God because He loves righteousness and justice. He is a fair God. He wants good to happen in this world. Thank Him for that! Thank Him that even if things seem unfair, we know that God’s ultimate goal is to work the right way out of this. Praise him for creating the earth! Look outside. Maybe you see the sky, a tree, the water...whatever it may be, remember that God made it, and thank Him for that. Thank Him for blessing you with knowing Him. Praise Him for being close to you. He is not a distant God; He sees what goes on in your life because He sees all mankind, and He formed your heart. Thank God that we cannot save ourselves and He still saved us. Remember that all our achievements are only possible through Him, so if there’s an achievement you’ve experienced lately, thank God for that. Let this bring you joy. You can access this joy anytime because it’s not based on your situation but on who God is, which never changes Find something new to praise God for – maybe it’s something that He did today or yesterday, maybe it’s something new about His character you’ve only just realised, or if you can’t think of something, thank Him that He does give you new things to praise Him for and ask Him to show you what those new things are.
