See No Evil

DAY 6 OF 15

If we have the ability to see the negative in someone else, doesn’t that also mean we have the ability to see the positive? Think about I Corinthians 13:6 NIV: Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. At one point in time, I made a decision that if someone else was going to hear what I thought about them, it was going to be something good. There’s something to celebrate in every person—and people want to hear it! I was only able to do this, however, as my heart began to be healed from insecurity and became rooted in the love of God. Check out what Jesus said about us “calling out” others: “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?” (Matthew 7:3 NIV.) Once you know that you don’t have it all together, you’ll be better at showing compassion and grace to others when you see their flaws. In the same way, once you realize how blessed you are, you’ll be able to bless others. In fact, you may even be able to find their strengths! Our greatest hope of speaking positive, life-giving words is to listen to God’s voice. Today, ask God to transform your heart into one that reflects His. Then look for an opportunity to call out something positive in someone else today.
