See No Evil

DAY 9 OF 15

My daughter has a toy grocery store cash register. She even has a little apron she puts on when her store is “open.” She and I rotate who’s the cashier and who’s the customer. She would probably play “store” for 15 straight hours if she could. But after about 7 minutes, I’m dying for something else to do! Ever since she got her toy cash register, you can’t imagine how excited she gets when we check out at the REAL grocery store. At the real grocery store, the options are limitless, everything is more substantial, and even the real cash register is better! Basically, she has come to appreciate how much bigger and better the real thing is. This is what Paul is talking about in his letter to the church in Rome: Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good (Romans 12:9 NLT). Really loving people, caring about them, and wanting what’s good for their lives is so much better than pretending to love. ·  It’s better than talking about loving people. ·  It’s better than good intentions. ·  It’s better than thinking, Someone should do something to help them. Really loving people is an exciting way to live. In fact, it’s the best life possible! Let’s start with one small step. What’s one good thing you could do for someone else today? Let’s quit pretending, and start learning how to really love people.
