We are here for it. Let’s be honest. Sometimes, the “it” we are here for is more messy and complicated than we expected when we entered ministry. We knew “it” would include . . . Toddlers screaming at drop off, Second graders asking us to pray for their pet turtle, Seventh-graders who are still figuring out deodorant, And tenth graders who have big questions that catch us off guard. But “it” is also . . . Walking families through crisis, Navigating political polarization, Showing up for volunteers whose doubts are making us have big questions, And solving problems in our communities that are complicated. Ministry can be a roller coaster ride of sorts. We have incredible moments where we see the fruit of lives being positively impacted. And we also walk with people through their lowest moments in life. It’s no small task. Yet, we endure. Why? Because that’s what love does. We choose to be here for it . . . . . . to be an example of God’s love in a world that desperately needs it. . . . because we’ve experienced a love that has been there for us when we needed it the most. . . . because our faith is changed when we show up. . . . because the faith and future of the next generation is worth everything. As we keep choosing to be here for it, we can be confident that God is always there. No matter how chaotic the world or life gets, God is always there. And, there is nothing that can separate us from God's love. So, we should stop at nothing to make sure the next generation knows that to be true. Now go and be a leader who is here for it .
