The remainder of Numbers relates more stories of God’s protection and provision and contains more numbers as well. All the people who refused to enter the land God is giving them have died off and when we get to Deuteronomy, they are getting ready to enter the land. Since this is a new generation, Moses reminds the people of their history and in today’s reading he also reminds them of the laws God has given them. Again they are told that the laws exist so God can give them success.

Before entering a new chapter in life, it is a good idea to rehearse the way God was working in the past and the promises we have made to God for the future. Sometimes in the craziness of adjusting to a new situation, people can lose sight of the most important things.
