To answer before listening—that is folly and shame.

Proverbs 18:13

Heavenly Father,

I once heard someone say that we have two ears and one mouth for a reason. That’s something to think about, especially for those of us who are quick to answer and slow to hear what is being said. I pray for my sisters who struggle with being argumentative or defensive, especially with their husbands. I pray that God gives them the spirit of being a good listener. I pray you give them patience and the desire to pray and think before answering. I pray for this change because I know it can make huge differences in relationships with their spouse, co-workers, friends, and children. The mouth is the most difficult muscle to control, and words are powerful. May they speak power in Your name, Jesus!
