Breathe Again: Finding Peace Beyond Fear, Anxiety, and Worryنموونە

Day 6: I Can’t Get My Thoughts to Settle
“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
Psalm 139:23 NIV
Have you ever felt like the noise in your head is so loud, you can’t hear anything else—not even God. You want peace, but your thoughts won’t settle. You try to pray, but you don’t even know where to begin. That’s when I encourage people to write.
Start by writing it out. Don’t filter it. Just get it down on paper and then bring it to God.
- You don’t have to be a writer.
- You don’t need beautiful words.
- You just need a page, a pen, and a little bit of honesty.
Writing can be an emotional release but it’s also a spiritual discipline. It slows your thoughts. And most importantly, it makes space for you to listen to what God wants to say back.
When you write something out, it forces you to slow your thinking down. And when you're writing it down, you're thinking, "Is that really what I believe? Is that really what I think?" It gives you a chance to step back and ask God to speak into it.
That’s why I love Psalm 139:23. When you write with the same honesty as the Psalmist in today’s verse, your heart is open, unfiltered, and surrendered. You’re getting your thoughts out while inviting God in.
So today, don’t just think through your worries. Write through them. Let God search your heart as you do. He’s not overwhelmed by your messy mind—and He’s not silent in your silence. He wants to meet you there.
ONE THING
- Set a timer for five minutes.
- Write down everything you’re carrying. Don’t edit. Don’t fix it. Just write.
- Then read Psalm 139:23 and ask: God, what do You want me to see in this?
