Day 5: When It Feels Like God Isn’t Moving

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
1 Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)

When anxiety takes hold, one of the hardest things to believe is that God is still moving.

Especially when you’ve been praying… and waiting… and nothing seems to change.

Maybe you’ve whispered, “God, are You even doing anything?” It’s easy to assume His silence means inaction. But more often, it’s an invitation—to trust, to look back, to remember.

There’s a process to peace—and it starts with gratitude.

So often we want peace without thanksgiving. We want the relief without the reset. But peace follows a pattern, and thankfulness is part of the path. We want to experience the peace of God. But we often want to skip over the thanksgiving part. We want the promise without the process.

That’s why 1 Thessalonians 5:18 matters. Gratitude shifts your posture before the situation ever changes. God doesn’t ask you to be thankful for the pain—but to be thankful in it. His presence in the pressure is a promise you can count on. You can remember that He’s provided before. He’s answered when you didn’t know if He would. And that He hasn’t stopped caring, even when the waiting feels long.

We can’t control everything. But we can be thankful—and that’s a powerful, healing step.

So if it feels like God isn’t moving, take time to remember when He has. Gratitude won’t erase your pain—but it will realign your perspective. And that’s where peace can begin again.

ONE THING

Make a list of three prayers God has answered in your life. Then write down three things you’re thankful for today. Pray through that list—and notice what happens in your spirit.
