Breathe Again: Finding Peace Beyond Fear, Anxiety, and Worry

ڕۆژی1 لە 7

Day 1: Why Don’t I Feel Peace Anymore?

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6–7 NIV

Peace is not passive; it’s conditional. Most people don’t get up in the morning and automatically experience peace.

Peace is conditional.

The Bible makes that clear. We’re told, “Never worry about anything. But in every situation let God know what you need in prayers and requests while giving thanks. Then God’s peace, which goes beyond anything we can imagine, will guard your thoughts and emotions through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 GW).

So peace is not automatic.

You may be thinking, But I’m praying… so why don’t I feel it?

I get it. The number one issue people share with me—they don’t have peace. Christians. Mature believers. New believers. Everyone.

When you’re experiencing anxiety, fear, stress, or worry, it doesn't mean you don’t love God. You’re likely just out of alignment—with your mind, your emotions, or even spiritually. It’s often a reflection that something is happening in those areas of your life that needs to be addressed.

The good news? Peace can be restored. But it starts by being honest with God and letting Him meet you in the middle of what’s really going on.

If you want to experience peace, the verses we are focused on today in Philippians tell us how to do it.

  • You start with prayer.
  • You ask specifically.
  • You give thanks.
  • Then—the peace of God, which passes all understanding— guards your heart and mind.

And here's something practical I’ve found that really helps—just stop in the moment and say, “Lord, I need you right now.” That little prayer—“Lord, I need you right now”—can refocus your brain and your spirit.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed today, that’s your starting point. God is not disappointed in you. He’s inviting you to walk through the process that leads to peace. He provides you with a path forward.

ONE THING

What’s one fear, worry, or stress you’re holding onto right now? Write it down and then pray that simple prayer: “Lord, I need you right now.”
