Known by You

“Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’” –Matthew 7:22–23 (NIV)

Healthy relationships don’t happen by accident—they’re intentionally built through love, trust, time, and mutual understanding. This is just as true for our relationship with God as it is with others. A strong relationship with God begins with a desire to know Him, to trust Him, and to grow closer to Him each day. When we give our lives to Jesus, we’re not simply agreeing to a set of beliefs—we’re accepting an invitation into a deep, personal relationship with the living God.

God’s love for us is so great that He made the ultimate sacrifice to restore what sin had broken. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NIV).

Sin created a separation between humanity and God, but through Jesus, that gap has been bridged. Because of His life, death, and resurrection, we can walk in a daily relationship with our Creator.

This relationship isn’t passive; it’s vibrant, dynamic, and life-changing. As we spend time in God’s presence—reading His Word, praying, and worshipping—we begin to understand His heart, His character, His motives, and His purpose for our lives. He reveals Himself to us in countless ways—renewing our minds, transforming our thinking, providing for our needs, and protecting us in times of trouble.

And we get to truly be known by Him, too—not in a distant or surface-level way but deeply and intimately. He knows the innermost parts of who we are: our thoughts, our fears, our desires, our wounds, and even the things we don’t fully understand about ourselves. There is nothing we can hide from Him—and yet, His response is always love, always grace, always an invitation to go deeper. To be fully known and still fully loved is one of the greatest gifts of our relationship with God.

The more we draw near to Him, the more we begin to reflect His love, grace, and truth to the world around us—no longer living from a place of striving but from the security of being known and loved by our Creator. As we grow in intimacy with Him, our lives become a testimony of His goodness! And others begin to see the light of Christ shining through us. This opens the door to share the message of the gospel with friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and anyone around us. Through our words, actions, and love, we get to be part of inviting others into God’s family. What a privilege it is to help others discover the same life-changing relationship we’ve found in Jesus!

Today, make it a priority to go deeper in your walk with God. Set aside intentional time each day to be with Him. Read Scripture not just to gain knowledge but to know His heart. Worship not just through music but through surrender. And pray not just to speak but to listen. Ask the Holy Spirit to stir a fresh hunger in you for God’s presence and purpose. And as you grow, ask Him to give you boldness and compassion to help others grow in their relationship with Him, too.

Prayer: Father, please give me complete security in being Your child. If I know You intimately, I won’t be afraid to share my life and my own struggles with the people You put in my life. Being humble and vulnerable is scary, but I know it’s the key to building strong relationships and to leading people to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
