You Can Give Eternally
Have you ever saved up tickets at an arcade or fair? You spend time playing games, and at the end, you trade your tickets for a prize. But here’s the thing: those prizes usually break or get lost pretty fast. All that work for something that doesn’t last!
Jesus tells us, “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matthew 6:20, NIV). That means when we give to others, help someone in need, or share Jesus’s love, we’re investing in something that lasts forever. Those heavenly treasures can’t be broken, stolen, or used up.
Paul reminds us, “Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age” (1 Timothy 6:18-19, NIV). When you give, you’re planting seeds that grow into something big and lasting, like tiny seeds growing into a strong, tall tree. Even small acts of giving, like sharing a toy or saying something kind, can have an eternal impact.
Sometimes giving eternally can feel slow, or like it doesn’t matter. But don’t give up! “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9, NIV). Every time you choose to do good, you’re trusting God to grow those seeds into something amazing.
You might not see the results right away, but eternal giving is about trusting God with the impact. What you do today can make a forever difference.
Challenge:
Think of one way you can give that lasts longer than a day. Perhaps it’s writing a kind note, praying for someone, or helping to teach a younger child. Do it today and remember, you’re investing in a forever treasure!
