Jesus Gives Today
Day 11: You Can Give Today
Do you ever catch yourself saying, “I can’t wait until…”
- “I can’t wait until summer break!”
- “I can’t wait until my birthday!”
- “I can’t wait until I’m older!”
Waiting can be fun, but if we only think about someday, we miss out on today.
Jesus gives us what we need today. In the Lord’s Prayer, He taught us to pray, “Give us today our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11, NIV). That’s not bread for next week or next year—it’s for right now. God cares about what we need today.
Jesus also said, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34, NIV). When we spend too much time worrying about what’s next, we miss out on what God is already doing today. Every single day, He gives us new chances to learn, laugh, and love others.
The Bible also says, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2, NIV). That means you don’t have to wait until you’re older or “better” to follow Jesus. He’s ready to give you His love, forgiveness, and friendship right now.
Think about it: Jesus doesn’t only give when things are perfect. He gives when you’re sad, happy, bored, or excited. Every day, He has something good for you.
So instead of saying, “I can’t wait until…” try saying, “Thank You, God, for today!”
Challenge:
Write down or tell a family member one way God gave to you today. It could be something small, like a hug from a friend or your favorite snack. Celebrate the gift of today!
