Jesus Gives Happily
Have you ever given someone a gift and couldn’t stop smiling as you watched them open it? Maybe it was something you created at school, or perhaps you saved up your allowance to buy it. Seeing their face light up made you happy, too.
That’s the way Jesus gives! The Bible says, “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:2, NIV). That might sound strange. How could something so painful bring joy? It was because Jesus knew His gift would change everything. His giving meant that we could be forgiven, become God’s children, and live with Him forever. That brought Him joy!
Jesus didn’t give because He had to. He gave because He wanted to. And when He gives, He gives with happiness and love. Jesus even said, “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15:11, NIV). When we give like Him, we can find joy, too.
The Bible also says, “God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7, NIV). That means when you share your snack, help a friend, or give your time to someone, you’re not just blessing them; you’re also filling your own heart with joy. Giving happily is like a boomerang: you throw out love, and joy comes flying back to you!
Challenge:
Find one way to give happily today. It could be sharing a toy, helping your parents, or saying something kind to a friend. Smile while you do it and see how joy spreads to them and back to you!
