The Names of God

ДЕН 2 ОТ 8

Today we’re going to look at one of the oldest Names of God in the Bible. El Shaddai, literally translated means God of the mountains or God Almighty. In Genesis 17, in conversations with Abram, God reveals Himself with this title. As we see in the context, Abram is going to enter a covenant with God and God is revealing Himself as God Almighty so that Abram will be able to trust in the power and might of the Lord. Knowing God through this title reminds us as believers of His limitless power and ability to provide. In times of difficulty, when we’re at a dead end and when things might seem too far gone for us, this is a reminder that God is a God who is Almighty, He is on top of things. Trusting in His Almighty nature brings assurance and strength. The sense of the word is He is mighty above all things, an overpower-er. Just like yesterday as God was reminding the Israelites that He is the God of the covenant, today He is reminding us that He is mighty on our behalf. When we are weak, He is strong. The Name has more to do with Him being mighty on my behalf. God is strong on my behalf. When I am frail, when I am inconsistent when my mind is weak, He IS STRONG. In any given situation, you can rely on Him to be strong on your behalf. Reflect Take a moment to reflect on this Almighty nature of God. He is not only Almighty, but He is mighty on our behalf. He wants us to call on His name. Take a moment to ponder on this personal aspect of God, El Shaddai. Prayer Heavenly Father, I thank you that you are a God who is Almighty and All-Powerful. Despite our weakness, frailty, and shortcomings, you are Mighty, you are Powerful on my behalf. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
