Romans 8
This is the New Normal

There’s a confidence the world talks about these days—bold, untouchable, unbothered. Cry harder. Cope. Get on my level. But what if that level wasn’t arrogance—it was Holy Spirit power?

Romans 8:11 tells us,
“The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, He will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”

That’s not just a nice verse to post. That’s a fact. And if it’s true, then our lives should look different.

Maybe you’ve had a moment—you were prayed for, filled with the Spirit, maybe even spoke in tongues. But then comes the doubt. Is this real? Did anything change? Was it just emotion? Maybe you’ve said things like, “That kind of stuff isn’t for me,” or “I’ve got too much trauma for God to move like that.” But the reality is—you’re not boxing the Holy Spirit… you’re boxing yourself.

The Holy Spirit isn’t bound by your feelings. He’s not there to give you emotional highs or goosebumps. When He comes into your life, you receive power—real, dead-raising power. You should speak in tongues. You should lay hands on the sick and expect healing. You can prophecy. You can receive dreams and visions. That’s the new normal.

In Acts 2, the disciples didn’t just cry or fall over. They got filled with the Spirit, preached the gospel boldly, healed the sick, cast out demons, and stared down persecution with joy. The Holy Spirit didn’t make them braver—He enabled them. And He wants to do the same in you.

But it’s not just about power—it’s about fruit. Galatians 5 tells us the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. That’s not a snack to pick at when you’re feeling low. That’s a banquet meant to feed the world.

This is the invitation: give the Holy Spirit space. Jump out of the fish tank and into the lake. Stop limiting His power based on your comfort or your past. Say, “Holy Spirit, where do You want to go?” Your life might get awkward. Risky. Bold. But that’s the point. When we live in His strength, not our own, we walk in the fullness of the Spirit.

You’ve got the Holy Spirit on tap—so stop living like He’s a one-time sip. Let Him flow. Let Him change your normal.
