Psalms 30
30
A Psalm of David. A Song at the dedication of the temple.
1I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up,
and have not let my foes rejoice over me. # Ps 25:2; 35:19
2O Lord my God, I cried out to You, # Ps 88:13
and You healed me. # Ps 6:2
3O Lord, You brought my soul up from Sheol;
You have kept me alive, so that I should not go down to the pit. # Ps 16:10; 28:1
4Sing to the Lord, you saints of His,
and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. # 1Ch 16:4; Ps 97:12
5For His anger endures but for a moment; # Ps 103:9; 2Co 4:17
His favor is for a lifetime;
weeping may linger for the night,
but joy comes in the morning.
6In my prosperity I said,
“I shall never be moved.”
7Lord, by Your favor
You made me stand as a strong mountain;
You hid Your face,
and I was dismayed. # Dt 31:17; Ps 104:29
8I cried to You, O Lord,
and to the Lord I made supplication:
9“What profit is there in my death,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise You? # Ps 6:5
Will it declare Your faithfulness?
10Hear, O Lord, and be gracious to me;
Lord, be my helper.” # Ps 54:4
11You have turned my mourning into dancing; # Ps 149:3; 150:4; Jer 31:4
You have taken off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
12so that my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
