27
A Psalm of David.
1The Lord is my light and my salvation; # Ex 15:2
whom shall I fear? # Ps 118:6
The Lord is the strength of my life;
of whom shall I be afraid?
2When the wicked came against me
to devour my flesh # Ps 14:4 —
my enemies and my foes—
they stumbled and fell.
3Though an army may encamp against me,
my heart will not fear; # Ps 3:6
though war may rise against me,
yet I will be confident.
4One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that will I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life, # Ps 23:6; 26:8
to behold the beauty of the Lord,
and to inquire in His temple.
5For in the time of trouble
He will hide me in His pavilion;
in the shelter of His tabernacle He will hide me; # Ps 31:20
He will set me high upon a rock. # Ps 40:2
6Now my head will be lifted up # Ps 3:3
above my enemies all around me;
therefore will I offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle; # Ps 107:22
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.
7Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Be gracious to me and answer me!
8When You said, “Seek My face,”
my heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, will I seek.” # Ps 24:6; 105:4
9Do not hide Your face from me; # Ps 69:17
do not turn thrust Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help.
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation. # Ps 24:5
10If my father and my mother forsake me, # Isa 49:15
then the Lord will take me in.
11Teach me Your way, O Lord,
and lead me on a level path, # Ps 5:8; 86:11
because of my enemies.
12Do not deliver me to the will of my enemies;
for false witnesses have risen against me,
and they breathe out violence. # Ps 35:11; Ac 9:1
13I believe
that I will see the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living. # Ps 52:5; 142:5
14Wait on the Lord;
be strong, and let your heart take courage;
wait on the Lord. # Ps 25:3; 31:24; 62:5
