Women of the Bible

DAG 2 VAN 30

Sarah How often do we feel the Lord calling us to do something, but instead of waiting for his direction, we run ahead and tackle the issue alone? This is precisely what happened to Sarah. God had promised Abram that he would be the father of many nations, but Sarah (called Sarai at the time) was a 90-year-old barren woman. She knew God's Promise would hold, but she couldn't believe that it would be fulfilled through her. She felt she needed to help God out and insisted that Abram go into her maidservant, Hagar. This was not God's plan. But Sarah had trouble believing God could fulfill his promise. In Genesis 18:10-15, God told Abraham that He would give Sarah a son. Sarah was listening at the tent door and began to laugh. Providentially, this prophesied son was named Isaac, "one who laughs" in Hebrew. Sarah's life was not easy. She had to learn to trust in the Lord regularly. She had to learn to see past physical limitations and rest in knowing God could work miracles. The Lord reminds her and Abraham in Genesis 18:14, "Is there anything too hard for the Lord?" 1\. Is there any area in your life where you are running ahead of the Lord? Prayer: Lord, teach me to be patient and wait for Your guidance in what You call me.
