“Lofwaardig is die Here, die God van Israel, want Hy het sy volk in genade opgesoek en vir hulle verlossing bewerk. 'n Sterk Verlosser het Hy vir ons laat opstaan uit die huis van sy dienaar Dawid. So het die Here dit reeds van oudsher belowe deur die mond van sy heilige profete: om ons te verlos van ons vyande en uit die hand van al ons haters; om Hom te ontferm oor ons voorvaders en sy heilige verbond te onthou. Met 'n eed het Hy dit bevestig aan ons voorvader Abraham dat Hy sou gee dat ons, gered uit die hand van vyande, Hom onbevrees kan dien in vroomheid en opregtheid al die dae van ons lewe.
