Maar hulle was blind vir dit wat God doen. Tot vandag toe gaan dit so met hulle. Wanneer die Israeliete na die wet van Moses luister daar waar hulle bymekaarkom om God te dien, begryp hulle steeds nie waaroor dit gaan nie. Daar hang nou nog ’n sluier oor hulle gesig. Net Christus kan dit wegvat. Dit is tragies dat die Israeliete tot vandag toe na die wet van Moses luister sonder dat hulle regtig God se werk verstaan.
