God’s Response to Worship The Tabernacle was built according to the instructions of Moses and when it was time for the people to begin their worship, Moses and Aaron led in the dedication. After sacrifices had been made, Moses said, “This is what the Lord has commanded you to do, so that the glory of the Lord may appear to you” (Leviticus 9:6). When the sacrifices had been completed Moses and Aaron came out of the Tabernacle. Scripture says, “Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown” (Leviticus 9:24). God’s holy presence was experienced again after Solomon’s prayer of dedication for the newly built temple. How could we do a better job of communicating this purpose in worship today? (2 Chronicles 7:4–7) > 2\. The Babylonians, under King Nebuchadnezzar II, destroyed Solomon’s temple in 587 B.C. It was rebuilt and that was the temple Jesus would have used. Read Matthew 24:1–3. What should a Jewish person have understood about these words of Christ? Look over the rest of Matthew 24. What should all of us understand today?
