Day 2 - Talking with God It is hard to do something with someone if you don’t know what they are doing. Likewise, it is hard to do what God is doing if we don’t know what He is doing. Jesus told his disciples that He only did what He saw His Father doing. He was aware in His Spirit what the Father was doing and wanted to do. Consistently throughout the book of John, scripture says that “Jesus knew.” Scripture also says that Jesus saw what His father was doing. In addition to the example of Jesus, there are numerous ways that God talks with us. Dreams and visions and scripture just to name a few. Sometimes there are even less “conventional” ways of speaking like the one time He spoke through a literal donkey. Perhaps hearing God and talking with Him is new to you…that’s ok! It is, however, foundational to having a friendship with Him. Besides scripture, He speaks in lots of other ways. Have you ever watched a sunset and felt His presence? Have you ever hiked a mountain and it proclaimed His glory? Have you ever watched a movie or read a book and had an epiphany, bringing revelation about His nature? Today, take some time to evaluate the ways that you do see God talking to you already. Is He starting to talk in a new way? How can you create time and space to hear Him more?
