"Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?'" Matthew 14:31 (ESV)

Jesus has power even over tempestuous waters. Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve felt like you were sinking? In today’s story, we read about how Peter, with confident faith in Jesus, stepped out of the boat he was in and onto raging waters. He clearly wanted to exercise his faith muscle that day! Maybe you’re in a similar situation. Maybe you’ve been asking in faith for something big, and you seem to be heading towards a breakthrough, but then you see the metaphorical raging storm around you, and you immediately start to feel like you’re sinking. Let’s go back to Peter’s story: ‘But when he saw the wind, he was afraid...’ Matthew 14:30 (ESV). Peter had stopped looking at Jesus and had instead looked at his terrifying surroundings, and that is when he began to sink. It’s so easy to fall into the trap of thinking you’ll never experience a breakthrough because logic says otherwise. However, this story teaches us the fact that God is with us when we’re sinking, and the only way by which we can stop ourselves from going under completely is by having our eyes firmly fixed on the one who will reach out his hand to save us. He is with you always, and he will always provide for your every need.

Question:

What is a way by which you can choose to trust God today instead of giving over to worrying about your circumstances?
