Storm Watch预览

There’s no denying that at some point—maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow—but at some point, you will go through a difficult time in your life. And usually, when those dark times settle in, many of us look around to try to find something or someone to blame. Or we become pseudo-detectives working overtime to figure out some sort of rhyme or reason why something happened the way it did. And at times, we can. There will be situations where the blame can be easily placed on ourselves, or we discover a reasoning that makes complete and utter sense. But what happens when there are no good answers or explanations? What do we do when we find ourselves struggling to understand how we got to such a dark place?
Usually, this is the time when we begin to ask ourselves, “Why me?” or “What did I do to deserve this?” This is a natural response you shouldn’t be ashamed of or feel bad about. But it’s important to remember that knowing the answers usually doesn’t impact the situation. Knowing who to blame doesn’t pull you out of the situation, and knowing why you’re there often can’t change your circumstances. Instead of focusing on the “why,” what could change in your life this week if you focused on WHO has promised to be with you? What could it look like to change from looking for reasons or blame and instead remind yourself that God has promised to see you through? And what would it look like to trust Him to guide you through it, one step at a time?
