Made Right With God

For the past two days, we’ve discussed the fact that all people have sinned and that Jesus was God in human flesh, the only One capable of saving us. Next, let’s see how that all ties in with today’s theme.

Every man wants to be seen as “in the right.” We want to be approved. Respected. Justified. But deep down, we all know we’ve blown it. We’ve sinned against a holy God, and no amount of good works, effort, or performance can clean us up.

That’s where the Cross comes in.

Jesus took your place. He took your guilt, your shame, and your punishment. On that Cross, the wrath of God was poured out—not on you, but on Christ. He died for your sin, and in exchange, you’re declared righteous in God’s sight.

Not because you earned it. But because Jesus earned it for you.

It’s as if you’re a criminal in court facing a life sentence, and someone else—who never committed a crime, I might add—comes in voluntarily and takes the punishment in your place. Legally, in return, you are given this person’s spotless, blameless criminal record, just by accepting his free gift.

This is justification by faith. It means you're made right with God, not by being a good man, but by having faith in the finished work of Jesus. The moment you believe and trust in Him, God looks at you and sees the perfect record of His Son.

That changes everything.

You don’t have to live under the weight of shame anymore. You don’t have to try to prove your worth. You’ve already been accepted—fully, finally, forever. That gives you peace with God and strength to walk in freedom.

Brothers, this is where your identity needs to rest. Not in your performance. Not in your reputation. But in the grace of God shown through the Cross of Christ.

Prayer: Father, thank You for justifying me through faith in Jesus. I know I could never earn Your love, but I receive it with a grateful heart. Help me live in the freedom and confidence that comes from being made right with You. Amen.

Reflection: Take some time to stop and give thanks to Jesus for who He is and what He has done for you!

Pillars of Faith

Every man builds his life on something. For some, it's a career. For others, it’s money, image, or comfort. But none of those foundations can carry the weight of eternity. This week, we’re going to walk through some of the key doctrines of the Christian faith—truths that every man who follows Jesus needs to understand. Written by Scott Roberts.
