The Real Jesus
A lot of guys today have opinions about Jesus.
Some see Him as a wise teacher, or a religious guru who preached love, or a moral role model. Others think of Him as warm, soft, and harmless, sort of like a gentle poet instead of a King.
The real Jesus has some attributes of the above descriptions, but He is also far greater than most people realize. He is truly God and truly man. He wasn’t made or created, as He has no beginning. He is the Creator. He is eternal, having always existed in perfect unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus didn’t merely preach about the truth. He is the Truth. Everything He said, everything He did, comes from the fact that He is God in human flesh.
And He didn’t show up just to hand out helpful advice or offer another religious perspective. He came to rescue sinners. He came to save souls and bring dead men back to life, as only He was capable of that.
As a man, Jesus experienced hunger, exhaustion, feelings, pain, and temptation. He understood what it's like to be human. He felt the grind, the pressure, and the heartbreak of what guys like you and me encounter in life.
But unlike us, He never sinned. Not even once.
As God, Jesus holds all power, all authority, and all holiness. He is the only way to the Father and the only one who can rescue us from sin. Through believing in Him, we’re brought into a right relationship with God. No one else can do what He’s done.
Men, this matters for your everyday life. The Jesus you follow determines the kind of man you become. If you believe in a watered-down version of Christ, you’ll practice a watered-down faith and live a watered-down life.
But if you view Him as He is—the mighty, risen Lord—you’ll follow Him with all-out strength, courage, and conviction.
And He’s not just your Savior. He’s your King. He’s your Lord. He’s your Master. He calls you to walk in His steps, to love what He loves, to fight for what matters, and to lead in your life with truth and grace.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for coming in the flesh and showing me who God truly is. Help me know You more, follow You closely, and live as the man You’ve called me to be. Amen.
Reflection: What part of who Jesus is do you find most challenging? What do you find most encouraging?

Every man builds his life on something. For some, it's a career. For others, it’s money, image, or comfort. But none of those foundations can carry the weight of eternity. This week, we’re going to walk through some of the key doctrines of the Christian faith—truths that every man who follows Jesus needs to understand. Written by Scott Roberts.
