The Solid Foundation
Every man builds his life on something.
For some, it's a career. For others, it’s money, image, or comfort.
But none of those foundations can carry the weight of eternity.
This week, we’re going to walk through some of the key doctrines of the Christian faith—truths that every man who follows Jesus needs to understand.
Today, we’re starting with the foundation of how we can understand truth:
The Bible.
As Christian men, we need to build our lives on a rock-solid foundation. That foundation is the Word of God. The Bible is more than just helpful advice. It’s not just inspirational quotes. It is the very breath of God, spoken through human authors, perfectly preserved by the Holy Spirit.
This is where we start. If the Bible isn’t trustworthy, then nothing else we believe really holds together. But it is trustworthy. It is true and error-free. And it speaks directly into our lives as men, including our leadership, struggles, families, and hearts.
When the Word speaks, we listen. When the Word corrects, we submit. When it calls us to act, we obey.
God’s Word is not meant to confuse or burden you. It’s meant to cut through the noise of the world and point you to Christ. The Bible teaches you what to believe, shows you where you’ve strayed, puts you back on the right path, and trains you to walk in righteousness.
That’s what men need.
Before we go into the rest of the doctrines that define our faith this week, let this be the first one you nail down. The Bible is your authority. Not culture. Not your emotions. Not your buddies.
Sola Scriptura. God's Word alone.
Prayer: Father, thank You for giving me a solid foundation through Your Word. Help me to trust the Bible fully and submit to it in every part of my life. Shape me into the man You’ve called me to be. Amen.
Reflection: Is the Bible the ultimate authority in your life, or just one voice among many? What’s one area where you need to start trusting and obeying God's Word more?
