Unresolved conflicts can sap our joy from our relationships. Conflicts that drag out and are unresolved, simply destroy our joy. Not facing issues in relationships breeds resentment towards the other person. This hinders us from showing the love of Christ that we are instructed to have towards our fellow Christians. Instead, we should work on resolving these issues in love. Jesus tells us in Matthew 18:15, “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.”
We are to be united in the body of Christ, not divided and resentful of each other. We should put aside any lingering pride, and work to resolve any conflicts with humility, compassion, and grace. If each of us is willing to serve one another in humility and “the mind of Christ” (or as Philippians 4:2 puts it, “the same mind in the Lord”), our conflicts would not linger. Jesus instructs us to resolve conflicts quickly.
