Develop Christian friendships with people who will help you, sharpen you and challenge you spiritually.

We all need spiritual accountability and encouragement to help us grow. Proverbs 27:17 tells us, “Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” Our Christian friendships help to keep us sharp. I often marvel at the difference it makes when serving with a co-laborer vs by myself. We seem to be so much more bold and inclined to do the Lord’s work, whereas alone we often give in to the temptation to quit or are easily distracted or offended. The Lord, knowing the human condition, sent out his disciples “by two and two”, Mark 6:7 tells us. Ecclesiastes 4:10b also says, “but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.” Sometimes we are doing the helping up and sometimes we are being lifted up, but we very much need Christian friendships and relationships to help us on our journey. Thank the Lord, He has provided the ones we need along the way.
