The Incomprehensibility of God's Infinity

DAY 4 OF 7

The results of studying the infinity of God

What happens to people when they study God’s infinity with their hearts? Our pride drowns in His infinity. Many of us suffer from a delusion of grandeur—an exaggerated belief in our importance, power, and identity. Meditating and getting lost in the infinity of God serves as an antidote for pride and our delusions of grandeur.

We will get lost in wonder. One of the greatest wonders for me is why an eternal and infinite God would stoop down and love people who have sinned and rebelled against Him - people who are full of weakness and very, very small. How could this indescribable and unfathomable being give His Son to save us and reconcile us with Him?

It will lead to being more in awe of God. Deep reverence and the fear of God will touch your whole being. Of course, this will not happen if you think about God academically. I can assure you that if you silence your heart and allow the Holy Spirit to draw you into the depths of God’s infinite existence, all these things and more will happen. One more thing may also occur. You may feel frightened by the immensity of God and your own smallness. The way to overcome that is to spend an equal amount of time meditating deeply on God’s love, grace, goodness, Fatherhood, and mercy. Allow the infinity of God to touch and change your heart before you run to learn about His other attributes. As you do that, you will find that renewed worship and holy fear—seeing God as truly “other”—will produce awe and intimacy simultaneously.

It will grow your faith. Faith will take on a totally new dimension if you start to realise the infinity of God. Our limitedness as humans stands in sharp contrast to God’s unlimitedness, which shrinks our faith. Through deeper insight into God’s vastness and eternal existence, our faith will grow. A lack of understanding of His infinity weakens our faith.

There is comfort and security in God’s infiniteness. God cannot run out of the ability to help, the resources to assist us, the power to protect us, or the wisdom and insight to help us solve real-life problems. This is why God says in James 1:5 that if we lack wisdom, we should ask!

Even when we reach the other side of the grave, it would still be impossible to fathom His infinity; otherwise, God would not be infinite.

About this Plan

The Incomprehensibility of God's Infinity

The infinity of God is not an easy subject. After all, how can a finite being really understand an Infinite being? For Christians, it is a very important subject to study. The Bible has quite a bit to say about this subject. As you study the infinity of God, you will grow in your faith. You will be more deeply anchored in God, and you will be filled with worship, wonder, humility and praise.
