The Incomprehensibility of God's InfinityНамуна

“Defining” God’s infinity
How does one describe God’s infinity? This is not easy. We do, however, have some words and concepts that give us an idea of what it means for God to be infinite. The Bible explains the meaning of God’s infinity in several passages.
Isaiah 40:28 (BSB) says, “His understanding is beyond searching out.” We cannot see the back-end of God and His works. There is a point where it goes “beyond” the possibility of research, beyond what we can understand. The Amplified Bible (AMPC) translation says His understanding is “inexhaustible and boundless.”
Infinity means there are no boundaries, no limitations, and it is beyond comprehension.
When Scripture says, “from everlasting to everlasting, you are God” (Psalm 90:2; BSB), it means He has no beginning and no end. God has no beginning and no end. He doesn’t grow tired or weary (Isaiah 40:28; NIV).
He has no limitations; therefore, He can do as He pleases (Psalm 115:3; NIV).
We live in an ever-changing world. God does not change. He is the same today, yesterday, and forever (Hebrews 13:8; NIV). In Job 36:26 (NIV), we read: “The number of His years is past finding out.” Science cannot count them.
God is unfathomable: “Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? They are higher than the heavens above—what can you do? They are deeper than the depths below—what can you know? Their measure is longer than the earth and wider than the sea” (Job 11:7-9; NIV).
1 Timothy 6:15-16 (NIV) says: “How unsearchable His judgments, and His paths beyond tracing out!” Take note of the words “unsearchable” and “beyond tracing out.”
God’s infiniteness is not a purely theological concept but a topic for discussion and philosophical discourse. Our prayers, our daily lives, our approach to life, and the way we think must be anchored in the infiniteness of God.
Isaiah 46:10 (NASB 2020) declares: "Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things which have not been done."
In computer programming, people often talk about the “back-end” of a program, which refers to the hidden side where the code runs. Only the programmer knows what is happening there. So it is with God: there is a back-end that we don’t know anything about.
His infinity means the eternal, absolute, total, permeating presence of God. And how frightening can that be! No time out. No private thoughts.
