Why Students Matter to God?

DAY 5 OF 7

Leaving a Legacy

Every generation has a choice: will we pass down the faith, or will we let it fade? The psalmist reminds us that the faith we hold today is not just for us—it’s a legacy meant for those who come after.

Think about it. You and I are Christians today because someone before us—parents, pastors, mentors, friends—told us the gospel. They prayed, they invested, they taught, they lived faithfully. Without them, our faith story would look very different.

That’s why ministry to students is more than programs or events. It’s about writing history forward. When we disciple young people, we’re shaping the kind of church the next generation will inherit. We’re planting seeds we may never see grow fully—but God will.

If we neglect students, we risk leaving behind a church weak and unprepared. But if we invest in them, we pass on a heritage of faith, hope, and courage. They, in turn, will pass it on to others. This is how God’s story continues through time—one generation telling the next.

The legacy question is unavoidable: What are we handing over to those who come after us? A faith that is vibrant and alive, or one that is cold and shallow?

Reflection: What kind of faith story will I leave behind for the next generation?

Action Step: Write down your own testimony of God’s work in your life. Share it with a young person this week—your story may become the seed of their faith journey.
