16 Characteristics of the God-Kind of Love - 1 Corinthians 13:4-8Намуна

Day 3 – Love does not envy
Envy is one of the common attitudes people develop when they see others acquire some of the things they desire. For instance, in Africa, some colleagues suddenly become envious when one of them buys a car, gets promoted, or receives some special favors from random people they’d like. But my question is, why envy other people’s possessions if you can trust God to do it for you, too?
A wise man once said that the sky is big enough for everybody to find space in. Genuine love does not envy. It does not covet what another person has, no matter how expensive or treasurous that possession is, both material and immaterial. That doesn’t mean that you may not get that “squishy” jealous feeling when you see a friend get something you also desire. It could be a job, a position, admission, or even something as small as clothes. That feeling should communicate to you that maybe you have a need you didn’t realize. So, instead of envying that fellow, learn to depend on God to also provide for you.
Everything earthly is temporary. Therefore, don’t let your entire identity be rooted in physical things that can fade in no time. Instead, fix your hope on God, who will carry you through all the various facets of life.
You’re a blessing!
