40 Days to Awaken Your Sober Mind

DAY 33 OF 40

I get it, when you’re used to numbing, staying present can feel unfamiliar, even uncomfortable. But presence is the pathway to peace. It's where God meets you.

Psalm 46 reminds us to be still. Not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. In stillness, God instructs our hearts to know, recognize, and even understand that He is God. He promises that He is with us, which means when we’re present in hard times, we’re never alone. When the heat of life turns up, staying present can feel like a miracle, a supernatural experience. The Lord shows up like a high tower of refuge when it feels like the enemy is chasing us and nipping at our heels!

Luke reminds us that, like Martha, we often focus on many things, but only one thing is needed. That's presence with Jesus. Listen, just like Martha, I’m a “get it done” kind of person, and sometimes that’s necessary, but time spent in Jesus’s presence first becomes the source of anything lasting. When we slow down and welcome the Holy Spirit’s presence, we are investing in eternity, and everything else will fall into place.

You don’t need to escape this moment. You just need to enter it. Because this moment, right here, is holy ground.

Prayer:
Jesus, help me stay present. I don’t want to numb or run. I want to be fully alive, fully awake, and aware of You. Show me how Your presence provides for me and serves others.

Journal Prompt:
When are you most tempted to “check out”? What would it look like to stay present instead?

About this Plan

40 Days to Awaken Your Sober Mind

Have you found yourself at the end of a long day, wondering, “Is this glass of wine really helping? You’re not alone. Let's awaken your sober mind through presence, grace, and truth. We’ll explore what it means to pause, connect, and live in alignment. We’re going to look at what God’s Word says about freedom, peace, and wholeness. Each day, I encourage you to slow down and really reflect. Let this be more than just a reading. Let it be a rewiring. You are not broken. You’re being rebuilt. One day at a time, one choice at a time.
