Faith That Feels Real: Part 4 - Trusting God in the Hardest TimesНамуна

The lie says: “When God is silent, He must be absent.” Silence stirs fear—maybe He’s forgotten me, maybe I’ve done something wrong, maybe I’m on my own. But silence does not equal abandonment.
David wrestled with this too: “How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?” (Psalm 13:1, NIV). Yet Scripture also tells us: “In quietness and trust is your strength” (Isaiah 30:15, NIV). Sometimes silence is not punishment but invitation—an invitation to deeper trust.
Often, our discomfort with God’s quiet comes from our stories. If we’ve known abandonment in human relationships, silence feels like rejection. But God’s silence is different. It is a sacred space where His still, small voice can meet us beneath the noise. He may be speaking in ways we don’t expect—through Scripture, creation, reflection, or even the discomfort itself.
Silence isn’t absence. It’s an opportunity to notice, to sit, and to discover that God is present even in the quiet.
Reflect & Apply:
- What emotions surface for you when God feels silent?
- How has your story shaped the way you interpret silence?
- Where might God be inviting you to listen differently—in Scripture, in nature, in journaling, or in stillness?
