Freedom After Divorce - Reclaim Your Life

DAY 5 OF 6

Day 5: Come Out of Agreement with the Marriage Covenant

Even after divorce, many still feel tied to their ex. That’s because marriage creates a soul tie—emotional, physical, and spiritual. Scripture says the two become one flesh, a covenant meant to last a lifetime (Genesis 2:24). When that covenant is broken, the divorce decree may end things legally on earth, but repentance is what heals the breach spiritually.

Repentance isn’t about taking all the blame. It’s about acknowledging before God that the vows made weren’t fully kept, and only He can restore what was broken. When you repent, you close the door to the enemy, break unhealthy ties, and open the way for healing and freedom.

Repentance allows you to forgive your ex, yourself, and release the weight of unmet promises. It’s not just about letting go of the past—it’s about reclaiming your future in Christ.

Reflection: Are there lingering ties—emotional, spiritual, or mental—that you need to release to God today?

Prayer: Lord, I repent for breaking my marriage vows before You. I release every promise, expectation, and covenant tied to my past. I forgive myself and my ex-spouse, and I ask You to cover me with Your Spirit. Seal every door the enemy has tried to use and fill me with Your love, peace, and freedom. Thank You for restoring me and making me whole in Jesus’ name. Amen.
