Positioned in Peace

DAY 4 OF 5

Peace in the Storm

"Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, 'Peace, be still!' And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, 'Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?'" -Mark 4:39-40 (NKJV)

In the middle of chaos, Jesus didn’t panic; He spoke peace. The disciples were terrified as the storm raged around them, convinced they were going to die. Yet Jesus was asleep. Why? Because His peace wasn't tied to the weather. His peace came from who He is and who His Father is.

When Jesus said, “Peace, be still,” He wasn’t just calming the sea. He was revealing a truth: peace is not the absence of trouble; it’s accessed in the presence of God. The same voice that created the world silenced the storm, and that same voice speaks into our lives today.

Jesus then turned to His disciples and asked, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” That question still echoes. Fear thrives when we forget who’s in the boat with us. Faith reminds us that Jesus never leaves us, even when the waves rise.

Whatever storm you're facing (grief, anxiety, financial pressure, addiction), know this: the Prince of Peace is with you. He may not always remove the storm immediately, but He will always give you peace in it.

Your circumstances may not change overnight, but you can change within them. Peace isn’t found in control; it’s found in surrender. Let Jesus speak to the storm in your heart. Trust Him, even when the winds blow. Because when He says, “Peace, be still,” everything obeys. And so can your soul.

Prayer: Father, teach me how to host Your peaceful presence in any and all situations.

About this Plan

Positioned in Peace

At the Last Supper, Jesus told His disciples, “Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.” (John 14:27 - NASB). Jesus made it clear: His peace is always available to us. But how do we actually live in that peace, no matter the season? In this devotional, we’ll look at the life of Jesus and His Word to discover how to abide in His peace-filled Presence, steadfast, unshaken, and full of hope, even when life feels anything but peaceful.
