DAY 3 OF 5

Out of This World

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." -John 14:27 (NKJV)

The peace Jesus offers isn’t temporary, fragile, or circumstantial. It’s not based on everything going wrong or right in your life. It's a peace that stands firm in the middle of chaos, storms, and uncertainty. The world offers peace through escape, distraction, numbing, or control, but Christ gives peace through His presence and His blood shed on the cross.

When your mind is set on things above (on Christ, His promises, His Kingdom), you rise above the noise. Fear loses its grip. Trouble loses its power. That doesn’t mean the storms disappear, but it means they no longer own you. His peace steadies your soul when the world is shaking. Jesus modeled this peace in the midst of fear as He imparted His supernatural peace to His disciples as they hid in fear after Christ's crucifixion.

"So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were together due to fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst, and said to them, “Peace be to you.” -John 20:19–20 (NASB)

If you shift your focus to the things of this world (money, status, control, comfort), you’ll find yourself constantly troubled. The world is unstable, and its peace is counterfeit. It gives, then takes away. It soothes, then enslaves. That’s why Jesus made it clear: “not as the world gives.”

So how do you walk in this peace? Stay close to the Prince of Peace. Spend time in His Word daily. Talk to Him. Worship Him. Fix your eyes on the eternal. Let your heart rest in the truth that He is with you, and He is enough.

You were created to host a peace that’s out of this world. Let your heart receive it today. Don’t let it be troubled. Don’t let it be afraid. Let it be anchored in Him.

Prayer: Lord, I ask that You would anchor me in Your peace-full presence.

About this Plan

Positioned in Peace

At the Last Supper, Jesus told His disciples, “Peace I leave you, My peace I give you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled, nor fearful.” (John 14:27 - NASB). Jesus made it clear: His peace is always available to us. But how do we actually live in that peace, no matter the season? In this devotional, we’ll look at the life of Jesus and His Word to discover how to abide in His peace-filled Presence, steadfast, unshaken, and full of hope, even when life feels anything but peaceful.
