Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

Though I might be very bold in Christ to command you what is fitting, yet for love's sake I rather appeal to you (Philemon 8-9).
How well do you use your influence for the Lord?
Paul plays a great violin. Can you hear the tune from prison that he masterfully uses to tug on Philemon's heartstrings-referring to himself as aged, a prisoner, and in chains (Philemon 9-10)? Onesimus, who is the slave of Philemon, robs his master (Philemon 18) and runs away to Rome. The Lord sovereignly guides him to the imprisoned apostle and Onesimus is spiritually set free. Paul has the authority to command Philemon to emancipate Onesimus, but chooses rather to make an appeal. It will be costly for Philemon to sacrifice his slave to serve Paul. Yet a letter written fifty years after Paul penned the Book of Philemon talked about a bishop named ... Onesimus.
Employment Point: Go the extra mile for the One who went the extra mile for you.
