Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

Then I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites bowls full of wine, and cups; and I said to them, "Drink wine" (Jeremiah 35:5).
How does your Christianity differ from others?
Jeremiah gives an argument from the lesser to the greater in Jeremiah 35. God dispatches him to the "house of the Rechabites." They are a group of Gentiles related to the Kenites. Imagine the prophet of God gathering them into the Temple and then saying, "Drink wine." "But they said, ‘We will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab, our father, commanded us, saying, You shall drink no wine, you nor your sons forever'" (Jeremiah 35:6). The family honored their earthly father's command. Yet God the Father gave commandments to Israel. "But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me" says the Lord (Jeremiah 35:15). Although Israel is chastened for their disobedience, God rewards the Rechabites for honoring their earthly father.
Employment Point: Obey your father, and God the Father, for blessings.
