Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

And the land will tremble and sorrow; for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without inhabitant (Jeremiah 51:29).
When will God literally destroy Babylon and fulfill His promise?
Jeremiah 50-51 predicts a future destruction of Babylon. Moreover, its elimination shall be permanent, unlike during 539 BC when the Medes and the Persians conquered the land. Babylon is an ancient city founded by Nimrod (Genesis 10:9-10). The Lord's future decimation will be perpetual. Jeremiah writes, "It shall be inhabited no more forever, nor shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation" (Jeremiah 50:39). The city is compared to the obliteration of Sodom and Gomorrah (Jeremiah 50:40). As two chapters are given to predict Babylon's demise, there are two chapters given to show its fulfillment (Revelation 17-18). Its permanent annihilation and heaven's future celebration are given in Revelation 18:21-19:5.
Employment Point: Honor the God who metes out justice in His perfect time.
