The Larger Story If the Gospel doesn’t take your breath away, something else will. We search for adventure constantly, through sports, porn, gambling, or simply by watching TV and envying the adventures of others. Just look at the phenomenon of reality TV. All we are doing is watching others and their adventures, while never living into our own. In the military, there is a term known as "situational awareness." The idea here is that have to begin to realize where we are and that we have a mission. You were created for a purpose, for an epic story. To assist us, let’s first look at God’s epic story. In John 1:1 scripture states “In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” But then something happened, a great war. The Great War! In which Satan and his followers raged against God and the Heavenly hosts. They were ultimately defeated and cast out of Heaven, but they were not destroyed. It is crucial for us to embrace this understanding if we are to be the warriors of God. We have an enemy to fight. This doesn’t mean we pick up a machine gun and march down the street. What it does mean is that we have to begin living for a larger purpose and realize that we are indeed at war. God knew you before you were formed. He created you with a purpose. There is an epic story with your name on it and the author is God. Let Him write your story and watch your life come alive. Battles will be fought but you have what it takes! Embrace your identity in Jesus Christ.
