Rewrite, Restore, Renew "So we fasted and petitioned our God about this, and he answered our prayer." (Ezra 8:23) One word from God can rewrite a life of regret, restore a broken heart and renew a forgotten future. Fasting and prayer doesn’t make it so that God hears us. Make no mistake about it, you are heard and loved by God. He hears us clearly, but do we hear Him? Which is more important? When we fast and pray, we eliminate the white noise that naturally comes from our flesh and the influences of this world, so that we can enjoy an undiluted and unfiltered time of communication with God. We become more sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and his promptings. We see things that we couldn’t see before, and make connections that didn’t make sense until we prayed. Fasting isn’t just about new revelation, it’s about new understanding of what is already happening. If one word from God can change everything, what would we do to hear that word? Prayer: Lord, give us ears to hear. Help us place our attention entirely on you, that nothing and no one can distract us from what you have to share with us. Amen. -Rob Gillen
