Nästa dag stod Johannes där igen med två av sina lärjungar. När Jesus kom gående såg Johannes på honom och sade: »Där är Guds lamm.« De båda lärjungarna hörde vad han sade och följde efter Jesus. Jesus vände sig om, och då han såg att de följde honom frågade han vad de ville. De svarade: »Rabbi (det betyder mästare), var bor du?« Han sade: »Följ med och se!« De gick med honom och såg var han bodde och stannade hos honom den dagen. Det var sent på eftermiddagen.
