Moved by Compassion - Learning to See as Jesus Seesਨਮੂਨਾ

Day 4 – Compassion in the Face of Loss
Scripture: Luke 7:11–15
Devotional:
As Jesus approached the town of Nain, a funeral procession was passing by. A widow was mourning the death of her only son, a woman already acquainted with loss. When Jesus saw her, “His heart went out to her, and He said, ‘Don’t cry.’” Then He raised her son back to life.
This is one of the most tender moments in all the Gospels. No one asked Jesus to intervene. There was no request for healing or faith-filled plea. Compassion alone moved Him to act. His heart was stirred by her grief, and the result was resurrection.
This is the nature of our God. When He sees death, He brings life. When He encounters despair, He releases hope. When He sees tears, He draws near with comfort. Compassion doesn’t stand at a distance, it steps in, to address the need and pain.
Many people around us carry unseen griefs: losses, disappointments, or loneliness. Jesus calls us to come alongside them with His heart of compassion. Sometimes we can’t fix the situation, but we can bring presence, prayer, and hope. In those moments, the life of Christ can flow through us to others.
At times compassion leads to dramatic miracles, but at other times all we can do is stand with others in their trials and pain, whatever the outcome compassion should always bring the presence of Jesus. And His presence changes everything.
Reflection:
Who around you may be carrying grief? How could you bring them comfort today?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You that You see every sorrow and hear every cry. Give me eyes to notice those who are hurting and the courage to bring Your comfort. Let Your compassion flow through me, bringing hope and healing wherever there is loss. Amen.

About this Plan

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus was often “moved with compassion.” His love was never passive, it led to action, healing, and transformation. In this five-day study, we’ll explore how compassion shaped Jesus’ ministry and how the Holy Spirit can awaken the same heart within us. Discover what it means to put on compassion, to be led by the Spirit, and to become God’s hands and heart to a broken world.
