Reflection:

• In verses 8-9, what did David declare about God? What is the Lord able to do that no man or woman can?
• In verses 14-16, what happens to the wicked? How have you observed this to be true in life?
• The NLT translation reads in verse 17, “I will thank the Lord because he is just; I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.” How does this hope empower you to thank God even when facing personal challenges?

Pray and Apply:

Ask God to search your heart and to reveal any resentment towards someone or bitterness about a wrong done to you. If someone comes to mind, practice forgiveness by praying, “Father, I thank You that You have forgiven me. Because I am forgiven, by Your grace I choose to forgive ____________ . They owe me nothing, and You are my vindicator. I trust You, and I release them to You. Heal my heart, make it whole. Holy Spirit, give me the strength and discernment to continue to pray this prayer when tempted to allow resentment to rule in my heart.” If the resentment is toward someone you have a relationship with, and if it is safe to do so, sit down with them and pursue reconciliation with that person. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you with wisdom through that process.
