Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

DAY 127 OF 365

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1 NKJV).

Why is Jesus called "The Word"?

In John's writings, Jesus is uniquely described as “The Word,” portraying Him as eternally God (John 1:1). Jesus, being God, spoke the very “word of God” because He was the eternal Son of God. John further explains, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14 NKJV), illustrating Jesus’ incarnation as the God-Man. Moreover, John describes Jesus’ return, “clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called the Word of God” (Revelation 19:13 NKJV). This vivid imagery shows Jesus, the Word, coming in power and authority to judge the wicked and reward the faithful. Today, as we read about Jesus’ life and words, we learn about the character and attributes of God. So, let’s anticipate the return of Jesus, the timeless Word of God!

Employment Point: Worship the Word, who eternally existed with the Father and will come again.

About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions help readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word—adapted from the book Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year Two, by Dr. Ken J. Burge, Sr.
