Life-Giving Bible Verses for Womenਨਮੂਨਾ

When It Seems Like God Isn’t Working
Mary Magdalene’s hopes and dreams had unraveled before her eyes. After her life was dramatically changed by Jesus, she left everything to follow Him. She was sure He was the Messiah, the One who was to save her people, yet she had witnessed His brutal crucifixion with her own eyes. Wracked with grief, she went to Jesus’s grave three days later to see that the stone had been rolled away. It appeared that His body had been stolen and His tomb desecrated.
This faithful woman wept, her heart now a question mark, perhaps wondering what God was doing or if all she’d believed was a lie. Through her tears, she couldn’t see that the man standing before her was the very One she was grieving. When it looked like all was lost, the miracle had already taken place, and its proof was now before her, calling her by name.
“Mary,” Jesus said, the sound of her name on His lips making the scales fall from her eyes. He had been there all along. Her faith became sight, and her sorrow melted into giddy joy.
Are we not like Mary before Jesus called her name, wrongly interpreting the work of God through eyes blurred by the tears of earthly grief? How often do we question whether He’s working, whether our faith has been in vain, only to have Him right there beside us, calling us by name? In our blurry present, we have the privilege of looking at the clarity of the past, of the truth revealed to His servant Mary, the first in a long line of women who tasted what it meant to follow Jesus and never turned back. One day, our faith too will become sight, but for now, we can trust from the evidence of the past that our God is working, and that the same God who called Mary by name calls your name as well.
Pray: Father, I don’t see what You are doing and all hope seems lost, but just as You revealed Yourself to Mary, my faith will one day become sight. In the mystery, in the waiting, may I trust that You are working out a good plan.
We hope this Plan encouraged you.
